Shriners

Chayah had her first Shriners appointment last week. It went really well and she is scheduled for her next appointment in a few weeks. Her main special need is her leg. It was broken in two places and causes her to limp. They are saying that what they are going to do is insert a rod into her leg to straighten it out and in the good leg, stapple the growth plate so that her other leg has a chance to grow and catch up to her good leg. They will later remove the stapple in the growth plate and both legs will be the same length and grow together. They are trying to get her in for the surgery very soon, possibly as soon as late March or April, we will find out if this is possible at her next appointment. She will have to be in a full leg cast, from her hip down, for about 3-4 months, so they would like to get it completed before the summer so she can run around and play then. The success rate that they gave her is about 70%, so the likelihood that it will work is fairly high and we are all hoping and trusting that it will!!

Yea! I can't wait to see how this goes!! I know she will do great!! She seems to be a very brave little thing. And that would be awesome if she got that cast off before summer!

Karleigh Mei's surgery is coming up at the end of March as well! Yikes!!

Praying for y'all!
